What does the WHPMG aim to do?
Ø Investment to improve and rationalise the harvesting, processing and marketing of forestry products.
Ø Development and promotion of new outlets for the use and marketing of forestry products.
Ø Establishment of associations of forest holders set up to help their members improve the sustainable and efficient management of their forests.
What activities can WHPMG fund?
Grants are available for individual projects and cover a range of potentially eligible activities. Project proposals should fall within the following categories:
Ø Marketing studies and strategies
Ø Development of new technology & products
Ø Wood-fuel feasibility studies
Ø Support for local direct selling
Ø Project management and establishment of co-operative working
Ø Establishing machinery, labour and equipment rings
Ø Group certification and chain-of-custody schemes
Ø Preparation of management plans and feasibility studies
Who can apply?
WHPMG is available to individuals, partnerships, companies, charitable and other organisations. Applicants may include woodland owners, contractors, farmers and businesses undertaking work for Forest Enterprise.
