Energy of the Future - with woodfuel at the centre | ||||
|
Woodfuel - setting the scene is the first of the ignite courses and provides the framework within which the remaining modules sit. This aspect of the course explains why woodfuel will play a major role in meeting our future energy needs. The essential background information begins with a look at our current energy uses, and how the patterns of the energy use are dictated by the forms in which it is available. |

From this background we look at the role of woodfuel in the energy cycle and our current and predicted energy consumption patterns. Renewable energies are also studied and how biomass (and in particular woodfuel) will play an increasingly larger part of the energy balance in the future. Current and near-future market opportunities are also examined in some detail.
Using and comparing energy units can often be confusing; Dr Jonathan Scurlock has developed a summary of Biomass Energy Conversion Factors.
"In depth background - good. Worthwhile and informative background."
"Refined, thought provoking. Well done."
