Make your farm woodlands work for you!
Want to know how to generate some extra income from your woodlands?
Want to create a haven for wildlife?
No matter what you want to do with your woodlands the WoodsWork project can help you achieve it.
Woodlands form an integral part of the rural landscape of the North East. Traditionally, woodlands have also provided farms and estates with many essential materials needed for the management of the farm, with heat, a refuge for animals and as a haven for wildlife and game birds.
In a drive to improve the woodlands of our Region and rekindle the role that they play in the rural economy, Northwoods made a successful application to one of the final rounds of Defra's Vocational Training Scheme, meaning we now have the resources to run a wide range of courses on all aspects of farm woodlands.
The project will help you to: • Improve your skills & knowledge • Access subsidised technical training • Create better managed woodlands • Generate income from your woodlands • Access grants and other support for woodland management, expansion and planning

In spring 2006 Northwoods undertook an extensive information gathering exercise with farm businesses from across the North East to find out what they wanted to do with their woodlands and what would help them achieve it.
Based on what we were told we have developed an extensive programme of training courses. All the courses are heavily subsidised, click here to check if you're eligible.
