The course has supported the development of woodfuel enterprises across most parts of northern England and Scotland since being developed by the Northwoods team and partners in 2004.  Those attending the course have gained an excellent grounding in the economics of wood fuel supply, the technology that's available to produce wood fuel and the systems that burn it.  Ignite is accredited by Lantra Awards and sits alongside chainsaw and similar qualifications in the forestry qualifications framework.  Igntie is now available across the UK.

Why do I want a qualification in wood fuel?

  • Qualifications enable customers to make a decision on a contractor without specialist knowledge themselves.
  • Qualifications reassure funding bodies that their money is going to a competent individual or company.
  • Qualifications are (or should be!) of practical use to those working in the industry.
  • Qualifications are a guarantee to those taking training that the training is of a certain standard.
  • Qualifications help to reassure the customer - a real business benefit!
