Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier is Open

Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier 2017 will be open for applications from today, Friday 10 March 2017, until 5 May 2017 when initial applications must be submitted.  This includes support for managing existing woodland through Woodland Improvement grant.

Guidance is available on the Woodland Support page of GOV.UK, including the Higher Tier Manual, Annex 5, individual woodland options and links to capital item guides.

Request your pack now

To apply for Woodland Improvement via Higher Tier, applicants should contact the Natural England Enquiries line on: 0208 026 1089 to request an application pack and maps.  You will need the following details to hand when calling:

  • Single Business Identifier (SBI)
  • County Parish Holding (CPH) Details
  • Field numbers of the land to be included in the application

You also need to make sure you are already registered on Rural Payments at www.gov.uk/claim-rural-payments

Application packs must be requested by the 13 April 2017, requests made after that time will not be processed.  We would encourage you to request your pack early.  The application pack should arrive within 5 working days.

Once you have your application pack, complete the application form and return to Natural England Technical Services by 5 May 2017, see Annex 9 of the Higher Tier manual for details of where to send.
