This course is suitable for those who intend to use the chainsaw for business, domestic or leisure activities, but does not intend to work in forestry of arboricultural activities or work on Forest Enterprise land.

Day 1 covers the safe operation and maintenance of a chainsaw
Day 2 covers safely cross-cutting pre-felled timber

Course content
• Workshop safety awareness
• Guide bar, saw chain and power unit maintenance
• Re-assembly
• Health and safety features
• Lubrication and fuelling
• Personal protective equipment
• Starting and pre-cutting checks
• Site safety awareness
• Cross-cutting and stacking timber

Candidates who achieve an acceptable standard will be awarded a Lantra Awards Certificate of Training which is valid for 5 years.
