NPTC CS30 and CS31

NPTC CS30 - Prepare and Maintain the Chainsaw, crosscutting timber on the ground

NPTC CS31 - Fell small trees up to 15 inch diameter

LandSkills NE eligible cost: £250 + VAT

Non eligible cost: £595 + VAT

This qualification is made up of three units

  • 30.1 - Maintenance of the Chainsaw
  • 30.2 - Crosscut and stack small diameter timber using a chainsaw.
  • 31 - Fell and process small trees (pre-requisite CS30)

 

Upon completion of the the CS30 Portion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  1. Understand operator safety during chainsaw maintenance
  2. Be able to carry out routine and periodic maintenance to a chainsaw
  3. Be able to start and check a chainsaw
  4. Understand operator safety during chainsaw use
  5. Be able to safely crosscut timber that is less than guidebar length in diameter
  6. Stack crosscut timber

 

Upon completion of the CS31 Portion of the course the candidate will be able to:

  1. Identify the Risk Assessment and Emergency procedures on a work site
  2. Select and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling
  3. Fell small trees safely and accurately using an appropriate method
  4. Fell leaning trees using a safe technique
  5. Remove branches safely in a manner appropriate to the branching habit
  6. Crosscut stems accurately and safely to a given lenghth and diameter specification
  7. Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques
  8. Take down small hung-up trees safely using appropriate hand tools
