Event Details

Rural Development Initiatives Ltd, through the Northwoods and Yorwoods projects, is working closely with Forest Research across the Yorkshire and North East region to look at increasing the mobilisation of wood from forests and woodlands in Europe.  The work is being undertaken through a European project called SIMWOOD.

The project is keen to engage with all sections of the forestry sector from the growers through to the processors through the project’s first Regional Stakeholder Engagement Meeting.

The meeting is designed to support the work within the project’s model region (Yorkshire and the North East of England).  It will form the interface between researchers and forest owners, managers and practitioners in understanding the dynamics of wood mobilisation within Yorkshire and North East of England.

The objectives of the meeting will be to:

  • Share and improve existing data, knowledge, ideas and plans relating to wood mobilisation in the region
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and barriers that exist to wood mobilisation
  • Contribute to the selection, design, planning and implementation of pilot projects which will  help to address and increase wood       mobilisation in the region
