Flood Fair for Northumberland 22nd May 2010

The Northumberland Community Flooding Partnership is hosting a Flood Fair for communities in Northumberland on the 22nd May. The event sponsored by the Environment Agency, will be held in the Dr Thomlinson School in Rothbury from 10.00am until 3.30pm.  The aim of the event is to give communities the opportunity

  • To meet producers of flood protection equipment and see their products up close.
  • Visit a variety of stands which have information concerning flood risk, flood warnings, flood planning etc.
  •   Visit a variety of exhibition stands.
  • Attend a series of talks and workshops related to business resilience, land/river management or community flood groups.

Workshops and Talks – confirmed to date

Business in the Community. Gareth Williams will be delivering a number of workshops on simple steps to protect your business.

Tyne Rivers Trust.  Dr Malcolm Newson (Director) and Mr Paul Atkinson (Rivers Officer) will present a number of talks on green engineering to improve the storage and flow of flood waters. Of particular interest to farmers and those with responsibility for watercourses or rivers crossing their land.

Northumberland Community Flooding Partnership.  Lynne Dunleavy will give talks on Community Flood Groups in Northumberland what they are and what they do.
