Wildfire Training Courses

RDI offer a range of wildfire training courses to help you respond efficiently and effectively to a wildfire event, from classroom based courses to live events. These are aimed at land owners and managers, gamekeepers, Fire and Rescue Service personnel or anyone with an interest in wildfire. Courses are organised according to demand and include;

Basic Wildfire Fighting – covering the principles of wildfire behaviour, supression techniques, health and safety and how to work effectively with Fire and Rescue Service.

One day practical training course running as part of the North Pennine Dales Woodfuel project, covering the all aspects of the use of small woodlands for woodfuel production. Application forms for the next round of Defra’s Farming and Forestry Improvement Scheme (FFIS) will be released on May 22nd 2012. The scheme can provide funding towards forestry and woodfuel processing equipment up to a maximum £25,000 grant per business. Woodland owners, foresty contractors and woodfuel supply businesses are all eligible to apply. The application deadline is July 17th 2012.
