Practical one day training course being delivered as part of the North Pennine Dales woodfuel project. Covers the use of small woodland for production of woodfuel products. Covering woodland types and management systems, timber qualities, woodland assessment, harvesting and extraction methods, conversion, price structure and economics of woodfuel production.

Details of the new Rural Economy Grant (REG) scheme have now been released by Defra. The £60 million scheme will provide grants to enable significiant ‘game changing’ investment in rural businesses including the forestry sector. Forestry contractors, woodfuel suppliers and woodland owners are all able to apply.
