Ignite – Training courses for woodfuel producers, suppliers, and users

The Ignite woodfuel training programme was developed by Northwoods in 2003 to deliver a range of integrated courses for woodfuel producers, suppliers, users, and those wanting to transition into the sector. In its early days, the courses provided a large supply of marketing leaflets, ongoing business and marketing support, a free web site, help with accessing funding, networking opportunities, PR support, official Ignite branding and the possibility of visiting wood fuel businesses in Austria as part of the EU Leonardo exchange programme. In 2006, the Ignite woodfuel training course won a prestigious award from the UK National Training Awards. Ignite is the longest standing training programme in woodfuel production and supply in the UK.

Since its inception, the portfolio of courses has kept up with sector and legislative developments as well as best practise and now includes the award winning Woodfuel Production and Supply, Woodfuel Quality Standards, Woodsure Accreditations, as well as bespoke fuel supply chain training such as Woodfuel for Farms and Estates, Ignite Urban and Co-operative Working. The courses are LANTRA accredited, and their website contains more details on course content and course providers.
