Northwoods Innovation Programme

The Northwoods Innovation Programme has been established to accelerate innovative approaches and technology to stimulate practical action in unmanaged and under managed woodlands, as well as improve biodiversity and sustainability.

Northwoods has been established to support all types of woodland owners, including those from across the public, private and charity sectors – particularly those interested in bringing areas of unmanaged woodland back into management, or with an interest in forestry innovation.


Programme objectives Northwoods will use innovative approaches and technology across the forestry supply chain, markets, and ownership community to stimulate practical action in unmanaged and undermanaged woodlands. The programme will also improve the biodiversity and sustainability of woodlands in the Northeast and Yorkshire.


Northwoods provide an array of services over three years, including:

• Events, networking, webinars & seminars


Northwoods is delivered and managed by low-carbon, biomass and forestry consultancy, Reheat, joined by a consortium of industry experts, including: Sylva Foundation, Timber Auctions, RDI Associates, Martin Glynn FICFor and Green Business Finance.
