Wood Fuel and the Future

As a vital part of the UK and the North East's biomass sector, Forestry has the potential to provide much of the regions renewable energy resource.  The unique infrastructure of forestry in the North East lends itself well to the provision of woodfuel products and forestry by-products to a new and emerging industry.  The expansion of the biomass sector will create new markets for forest products at a wide a range of scales from domestic markets through to large scale combined heat and power stations.  The North East has been at the forefront of the development of wood fuel markets with several wood-fired heating schemes already in operation and many more planned to come on line in the near future.

The development of a skilled workforce is essential for the future development of the firewood sector. Ignite is a programme of training that will provide not only the essential background information to a new and rapidly developing sector, but will also supply important business training along with the support and guidance to assist the rapid expansion of businesses into the sector.

As part of this expansion it is vital to have a skilled, trained workforce to take advantage of the demand. In order to help this we have organised a suite of Ignite training courses available, each course will be run twice;

If you would like to book onto one of these course please contact Pam Baker at pam.baker@ruraldevelopment.org.uk or on 01670 513 292
