Innovator Support
The Northwoods Innovation Programme disseminates, develops, and supports innovative solutions that make a practical difference to woodland management. The programme consortium has extensive experience in various aspects of woodland management and project development as well as excellent networks that could be utilised.
As a result, we aim to support the development of innovative tools that help woodland owners, managers, and other stakeholders bring woodlands into active management. Our consortium of experts can provide support to help innovators develop ideas that overcome barriers that are currently hindering active woodland management.
Do you have an idea which could help reduce barriers currently preventing woodland management? Get in touch today to see how we can help you develop it further.
Northwoods Future Proofing Advice
Northwoods are now able to offer an innovative ‘future proofing’ advice service for woodlands in the North East and Yorkshire, at no charge to the owner. Please read on if you are interested in participating.
Woodlands face a multitude of issues – climate change, development, lack of management being amongst the most obvious. In addition, demand for timber and bio based products is forecast to multiply as society seeks alternatives to carbon intensive materials in order to meet net zero targets by 2050. A recent Horizon Scan undertaken by Forestry England in conjunction with the University of Cambridge reported on 15 key issues which it felt would affect woodlands in England over the next 50 years. So when managing woodlands it’s important to not just think about the next five year management plan period, but to look further ahead. Watch our webinar with Alison Field and Martin Glynn looking at this in more detail and introducing the future proofing service.
Northwoods will visit your woodland to assess the primary long term issues facing it, and what can be done to accommodate them. We will provide a summary report for your to refer to and will also be available for follow up advice online and by telephone. There is no charge for this service, which is not intended to duplicate or replace any existing professional woodland management advice you receive. If you are interested in receiving a visit please complete this form and one of our advisors will be in contact. Please note there is a limit to the number of available visits and they must be completed by 15th March 2025.
