Join researchers looking at views and opinions on biochar's potential contribution to climate change mitigation.

The Northwoods Innovation Programme hosted a webinar with The Biochar Demonstrator Project. Due to technical difficulties, the live recording has not been posted to YouTube but slides can be shared on request.

Since 2022, Dr Catherine Price and Dr Carol Morris, the Social Science researchers of the Biochar Demonstrator Project (https://biochardemonstrator.ac.uk/) have been engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to gather views and opinions on biochar’s potential contribution to climate change mitigation. Part of this research has involved in-depth, qualitative interviews with a wide range of stakeholders including the forestry industry, farmers and others in the agricultural industry, Government Departments, NGOs, the biochar industry, carbon trading companies, local authorities and academics.

We will present key findings from these interviews and this will be followed by an opportunity for you to ask questions and make comments.

The webinar is provided as part of the Northwoods Innovation Programme which is looking to bring woodlands into management in the North East and Yorkshire & The Humber regions. The project is funded through the Forestry Commission Woods into Management Forestry Innovation Fund.
